Details: This weighty and finely made antique 14kt yellow gold anchor pin makes a major statement with sapphire cabochons and old cut diamonds. The diamonds are flush set in gold accented with bead set prongs. The body of the anchor is twisted and has a lovely oxidized patina. The foot of the anchor features a chunky sugar loaf sapphire. A hidden pin sits on the reverse. This would be a wonderful piece for the lapel of a coat or a waist band.
The anchor is a common Victorian motif symbolizing hope. A loved one would be sent off on a voyage with a brooch such as this pinned close to the heart. The hope was always for a safe return.
Measurement: The pin is about 1.75 tall and 1 wide at the widest point.
Origin: Russian. c. 1870's.
Note: Chain is sold separately.
